As you know our institution’s leadership team offered us a ‘deal’. If we agreed to refrain from campus demonstrations and agreed to report our strike action using their online form, then they would ‘generously’ spread pay deductions over three months. We consulted with all Leicester UCU members, via an e-ballot. That ballot closed at midday today. The results are very clear. More than one-quarter of members voted – that’s a high turnout given the short ballot window. Of those who voted, more than half rejected the offer.
We have issued a press release on this subject, which you can read here.
Of course, negotiations with the University’s executives will continue. We have prepared our own strike reporting pro forma which will minimise work for our members. But reporting strike action is not something any of us needs to worry about until mid-March.
See you on the picket lines! Leicester UCU
